News archive - ERC announces changes to 2013 calls
The ERC has announced three significant changes to be implemented in its 2013 calls. Firstly, the ERC Starting Grants scheme is to be split into Starting Grants (StG) and a new Consolidator Grants scheme. The first scheme is for Principal Investigators who received their PhD between two and seven years before publication date of the Starting Grants call, which is expected to be around 10 July 2012. The second scheme is aimed at those who will have received their PhD between seven and 12 years before the publication date. This change has been made as a result of the increasing number of proposals submitted to the previous Starting Grant call and the consequent strain on the panel members reviewing the proposals. For the 2013 calls, the two new schemes will each have their own set of panels.
In other changes, the deadline timetable for the 2013 calls will follow a different pattern to that used in previous years, with a particularly significant change in respect of the Advanced Grants call, which will close in November and not in the spring as in previous years. Finally, there will no longer be separate deadlines for the three research deadlines; instead, there will be a single deadline per scheme.
