Greece supports the creation and development of innovation clusters in thematic sectors presenting existing or potential competitive advantage for the country.
Specifically, following an open call for proposals, the General Secretariat for Research & Technology of the Ministry of Education of Greece will finance a two-years pilot operation phase of 4 innovation clusters of 18.396,773 € total funding, in the following thematic sectors:
- Information Technology, Telecommunications and Knowledge-Intensive Servicesà2 innovation clusters
- Energy and Environmentà1 innovation cluster
- Health and Biomedicineà1 innovation cluster
In particular, on the one hand, the cluster facilitator is funded for the co-ordination of the cluster, the supply of necessary services towards the participating enterprises, the development of common infrastructure and the coverage of the operational costs to the benefit of the cluster. On the other hand, 58 enterprises are funded for their innovative activities, such as development of prototypes, general and/or specific training, participation in fairs, promotion of products and eventually the relocation in a common infrastructure.
