News archive - Announcement of International Conference “Week of Innovative Regions in Europe 2014”
The Greek National Documentation Centre (EKT) and the European Commission, in collaboration with the Greek General Secretariat for Research & Technology, organize the International Conference “Week of Innovative Regions in Europe 2014”, which is organised under the frame of the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union, in Athens, Greece, on the 12th and 13th of June, 2014.
The “Week of Innovative Regions in Europe (WIRE)” provides a forum for policy dialogue on Regional Strategies, Innovation & Growth. It is organised by the European Commission, in collaboration with Member States, through the Presidency in turn, and has been established as a debate leading to recommendations for optimal use of policies and instruments for regional development.
The conference, organised under the auspices of the Greek EU Presidency, will focus on research and innovation as drivers of competitiveness, employment, sustainable grow and social developments. The event, today recognized as a key element in facilitation of the European regional agenda, will provide the opportunity for regional authorities, funding agencies, representatives of the national research bodies, the applicant's parent organisation, and end-users (SMEs, industry, etc) to participate and thus to ensure synergies with local, regional and national policies.
