News archive - FP7: ICT Call 2 now open

The ICT theme of the Cooperation Programme announced its second call for proposals on June 12, 2007 with a deadline on October 9, 2007. Three activity lines are specifically addressing the Western Balkan countries.

This call will support projects in nine research topics, covering five of the seven Challenges which the theme launched with its first call in the Seventh Framework Programme at the beginning of this year.
The new call is funded at EUR 477m. The first projects funded from this call will be launched early in 2008.

Please take note of the following activities targeted at Western Balkan countries:

ICT-2007.3.7: Networked Embedded and Control Systems

  • Control of large-scale complex distributed systems aiming at
  • Developing generic modelling and design methods, dynamically reconfigurable architectures, languages, and scalable algorithms for the control of evolvable, distributed and adaptable systems
  • Mastering complexity and temporal and spatial uncertainties (e.g. bandwidth and delays in communications)
  • Integrating advances in sensor networks for closing the control loop
  • Cooperation with the USA, Russia and Western Balkan is encouraged

ICT-2007.5.3: Virtual Physiological Human

  • Specific international cooperation on healthcare information systems based on Grid capabilities
  • Insight into research activities undertaken in Latin America, Western Balkans and Mediterranean countries, aiming at optimizing the use of biomedical data and computing resources

ICT-2007.6.3: Environmental Management and Energy Efficiency

  • Specific International Cooperation Action
  • ICT for environment disaster reduction and management
  • Development and Interoperability of rapidly deployable ICT-based solutions
  • Assessments of natural hazards and community vulnerability
  • For public warnings and emergency management
