News archive - Conference on Renewable Energy Cooperation between the EU, the Mediterranean and the Gulf Countries
A Ministerial level conference on renewable energy cooperation between the EU, the Mediterranean and the Gulf countries took place in Brussels on October 9, 2009, aiming to forge increased political support for closer cooperation in this field, and help to find concrete solutions to the challenges ahead.
High-level representatives of Albania, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Montenegro were present at the meeting along with delegates from many other countries in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
The conference provided a platform for presenting EU initiatives in renewable energy, including the Renewable Energy Directive and the growing potential for renewable energy exports to the EU. One of the issues discussed was cooperation of the Euro-Mediterranean energy regulators (MedReg), indluding regulators form the WBC.
