State Secretary Dražen Vikić-Topić highlighted that changes in the legislation of the science system had been recently implemented in his country and expressed the hope that after the elections the reforming and restructuring process would continue. Furthermore, he considers local and regional cooperation with the neighbouring countries very important, and he highlighted the need to make this collaboration more efficient on bilateral and multilateral levels. Secondly, he emphasised the need for improvement in the field of infrastructure and instruments in the region. Thirdly, he pointed out the question of mobility, internal and external, which was at the centre of the round table discussions.
The conclusions of this round table, which was chaired by Erhard Busek (Stability Pact) and Johannes Hahn (Austrian Minister for Science and Research) will be provided in the next issue of this journal in February / March 2008.
