News archive - [Event Announcement] WORKSHOP: Social attitudes toward fostering entrepreneurship and innovation demand
On 19 January 2012, a consortium led by WIFO in partnership with the European Commission will organise a one-day workshop on “Social attitudes toward fostering entrepreneurship and innovation demand”. The workshop is prepared in the context of PRO INNO Europe (www.proinno-europe.eu), the European Commission's focal point for innovation policy analysis and policy cooperation in Europe.
The workshop will explore study outcomes regarding changing trends in social attitudes to innovation and their influence on entrepreneurship and demand for innovative goods and services. These attitudes – and their economic effects – are possibly the most difficult aspects of innovation to measure. The lack of adequate data hinders understanding and consequently the development of innovation policies to promote entrepreneurship and demand for innovative products. The report will identify indicators for entrepreneurship and demand, will explore the effect of both on innovation outcomes, will recommend relevant policies to improve entrepreneurship and demand, and will construct a questionnaire for obtaining better data on these two aspects of innovation.
The following research questions will be answered:
- What is the effect of social attitudes to entrepreneurship and demand for innovative products on innovation outcomes in Europe and in other major economies, including (depending on the data available) the US, Japan, Canada, Australia, India, China, and Brazil?
- What policies could foster more entrepreneurship and demand for innovation in Europe?
By participating, you will have the opportunity to exchange opinions and experiences and to suggest directions for open innovation policy in the future. The workshop is free of charge, but you are required to register by emailing assistant@greenovate.eu. Please include the following details:
- Full name
- Contact details
- Interest in the workshop
- As seats are limited, we advise you to register earlier. (See agenda attached).
